Review Policy
Last updated 2 June 2026.
This page explains how tools and articles are reviewed, and how often.
Pre-publication review
Every calculator is reviewed before it goes live. That means checking the calculation logic against the official rules it implements, running worked examples to confirm the results are sensible across a range of inputs (including zero, very large and boundary values), and reading the on-page explanation for accuracy and plain language.
Scheduled review
Tools that depend on tax bands, thresholds or rates are reviewed at the start of each relevant tax year, because that’s when figures most often change. Other tools are reviewed at least annually. The “last reviewed” date on each page reflects the most recent check.
Triggered review
We also review a tool whenever a rule changes mid-year, a source updates its figures, or a reader reports a possible error. Reader reports are taken seriously and are often the fastest route to catching something.
Who reviews
Reviews are carried out by the site’s named editor, who is responsible for both the calculations and the content. Where a topic sits at the edge of our expertise, we keep the tool conservative and direct readers to a qualified professional.
